Recently, Sophie Cunningham’s private life caught attention when photos featuring her and her rumored boyfriend surfaced on social media. The Indiana Fever guard appeared cheerful as she posed with Frank Adams, who is the head athletic trainer for the men’s basketball team at Grand Canyon University, while they were on a boat at the Lake of the Ozarks.
These images, shared by the “Fever Updates” account on X, seem to have been taken during a celebration for Cunningham’s 30th birthday, which took place in Missouri on September 7.
Cunningham also posted on Instagram, showing off a birthday cake and wearing the same bikini seen in the photos.
Adams joined the GCU sports medicine team in 2025, after spending six years as an assistant athletic trainer with the Phoenix Suns.
Before that, Cunningham was part of the Phoenix Mercury from 2019 to 2024. Interestingly, both the NBA’s Phoenix Suns and the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury share ownership under Mat Ishbia.
As of now, neither Cunningham nor Adams has publicly commented on the rumors surrounding their relationship. At various games at Grand Canyon University earlier this year, they were spotted together, which, of course, sparked some conversation online.
Cunningham, who has stirred some debate due to her stance on transgender athletes’ participation in women’s sports, was also seen attending the NASCAR Cup Series Enjoy Illinois 300 at WWT Raceway while the WNBA is currently paused for the FIBA World Cup.
Interestingly, during the same weekend, the U.S. women’s basketball team rallied from an early 14-point deficit to secure a victory against France, wrapping up their fifth consecutive World Cup title with a score of 97-79.
