Democrats Aim to Transform Texas with Soros’ Support
Reports suggest that Democrats are gearing up to influence Texas politics, potentially flipping the state toward blue, with significant financial backing from leftist billionaire George Soros.
The Texas Majority PAC is preparing to launch this initiative, as outlined in a report from the Wall Street Journal on Monday. The plan, referred to as the “Blue Texas” initiative, will involve collaboration between the Texas Democrats and various county parties to make an impact in the upcoming midterm elections.
Soros has invested millions in the past to turn Texas blue but has not met with success. Recently, he contributed $1 million to the Texas Majority PAC.
Texas has long been a Republican stronghold, providing substantial support to the GOP and backing President Trump in the last three presidential elections. While the state’s Hispanic population growth over the last two decades has given hope to Democrats, it hasn’t significantly altered the political landscape. Previous efforts by Democrats, such as those organized under Texas Battleground, have not delivered notable outcomes.
Since 1994, Democrats have not won statewide elections, and Trump achieved a record victory margin in Texas last year, defeating former Vice President Kamala Harris by nearly 14 percentage points. The Republican Party has dominated presidential elections in Texas since 1980, with the last Democratic U.S. senator elected being Lloyd Bentsen in 1988.
The Texas Majority PAC is looking to make an impact in 2024, as other left-leaning organizations are also aiming to capitalize on the state’s growing immigrant population, as reported by Breitbart News.
According to the outlet, “In Texas, the state’s foreign-born population is essential to Democrats.” Furthermore, some NGOs partially funded by Soros have encouraged Democrats to adopt policies that seek to decriminalize illegal immigration.
The breadth of Soros’ influence has reportedly shaped Democratic strategies, including recent legal actions aimed at challenging President Trump’s policies in court rather than through Congress, as noted in the article.
In 2020, Texas Democrats faced a setback after their efforts to shift the state’s political color during that presidential election did not yield the expected results.
