South Africa Misquotes Bible, Netanyahu in Accusing Israel of ‘Genocide’ at The Hague

South African lawyer Thembeka Ncukaitobi told the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague on Thursday that Israel committed “genocide” against Palestinians by trying to turn victims of Hamas terrorist attacks into aggressors. He misquoted the Bible when criticizing Israel.

Ngcukaitobi cited statements made by various Israeli officials in response to the October 7 attack that appeared to indicate genocidal intent. The statement also included a quote from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that referred to the Biblical story of Amalek.

As Breitbart News noted at the time, Prime Minister Netanyahu referred to Deuteronomy 25:17, saying, “Remember what Amalek did to you.”Israel critics on social media misquoted He mentions other passages in the book of Samuel, but does not quote them.

Ngcukaitobi played a video of Prime Minister Netanyahu's statement, incorrectly quoting Samuel instead of Deuteronomy.

Below is an actual quote from Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Since time immemorial, we have fought against a hated enemy who rose up to destroy us.When we were strong in spirit and righteous in our ways, we stood firm against those who sought us. [to destroy] our soul.

The current fight against Hamas killers is another chapter in a generations-long story of national struggle.

“Remember what Amalek did for you.”

We will always remember the horrific sight of the massacre on Shabbat Simchat Torah on October 7, 2023. Before our eyes are our murdered, wounded, and kidnapped brothers and sisters. Collapse of the IDF and security forces.

In their name and on their behalf, we have embarked on a campaign. Its purpose is to destroy Hamas, a cruel and murderous enemy, ISIS, return its abductees, and restore safety to our country, its people, and its children.

This is a battle between the children of light and the children of darkness. We will not abandon our mission until light overcomes darkness. Good will defeat the evil that threatens us and the whole world.

Here's how South Africa misrepresented Netanyau's remarks. simplequoting incorrect parts of the Bible without context.

On October 28, 2023, as Israeli forces prepared for a ground invasion of Gaza, the Prime Minister cited the Biblical story of the complete destruction of Amalek by the Israelis and said: And we remember. ” The Prime Minister mentioned Amalek again in a letter sent to Israeli soldiers and officers on November 3, 2023. The relevant Bible verse reads: “Go, attack Amalek, and forbid all that is his; spare no one, and kill man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and donkey alike. Please.” [footnotes omitted].

As anyone who actually knows the Bible knows, Netanyahu was referring to the book of Deuteronomy, not Samuel. The command to “remember” Amalek is more familiar to Jews, as it appears in the first five books of the Bible that make up the Torah, and is recited in its entirety every year in nearly every synagogue around the world. is. The Bible is read more sporadically).

Furthermore, Netanyahu was referring to the war with Hamas, not Palestinians in general.

Ngcukaitobi then played a video of Israeli soldiers singing about the “Amalek” sweep and claimed they were following Prime Minister Netanyahu's orders. He omitted the fact that the Israeli military had: condemned and disciplined soldiers for such actions.

Other South African claims recited hostile propaganda. One lawyer said, ignoring the fact that while Israel is taking extraordinary steps to avoid harm to civilians in the Gaza Strip, Hamas is using civilians as human shields, “nobody They can't be saved, not even babies can be saved.”

Another South African lawyer covered up Hamas' human rights abuses, claiming aid trucks arriving in Gaza were “occupied by starving people” and the fact that armed gunmen were stealing aid supplies and Palestinians. They claimed to have ignored the fact that people were openly extorting aid. condemnation Hamas stole aid.

South African legal representatives have also advanced their arguments in terms of attacks on Israel's existence, and in particular that Palestinians have a “right of return” to the villages they left during the 1948 Arab War against Israel. insisted. It will destroy Israel. Last month, South Africa's ruling party welcomed representatives of the committed terrorist organization Hamas to its platform. chartereffected not only the destruction of Israel, but also the genocide of Jews around the world.

Foreign policy analysts Ray Hartley and Greg Mills said: I got it.South Africa's enthusiasm for an international tribunal against Israel is in sharp contrast to the way it has sought to protect Russia, Sudan and other rogue states from international tribunals.
