South Africa’s ‘Genocide’ Case Against Israel Is Classic Antisemitism

South Africa's case against Israel, heard Thursday at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, is a classic display of anti-Semitism in that it depicts the Jewish victims of genocide as the aggressors. , a familiar pattern from Babylon to the Nazis.

Palestinian Hamas terrorists launched an unprovoked attack against Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people, most of them civilians. Hamas has also raped, kidnapped and pillaged Israelis, and has vowed to do so again until Israel is destroyed.Hamas charter goes even further and calls for the murder of Jews around the world. Indeed, the October 7 attacks triggered a wave of anti-Semitic violence around the world and were accompanied by calls to eradicate Israel “from river to sea.” that That is “genocidal intent.”

But instead of condemning Hamas and its collaborators Iran, Qatar and Turkey, South Africa targeted Israel. Its 84 pages indictment It depicts exactly that existence Treat Israel as a crime.the lawyer claimed Israel does not have the right to self-defense in the Gaza Strip.

Therefore, Israeli Jews become reluctant victims of terrorist genocide. The moment they fight back, they are condemned.

The irony of the Jewish state being accused of “genocide” is no different for Israelis, who were born after the Nazi Holocaust. Israel signed the 1951 Genocide Convention, a document that emerged in response to the genocide of the Jews.

Accusing Israel of “genocide” undermines its legitimacy and re-traumatizes the victims of both October 7th and the Holocaust.

The Bible tells one of the earliest stories of anti-Semitism. book of daniel. The protagonist, one of the Jews exiled during the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem, is later recognized for his talent and becomes an advisor to the enemy king. Daniel even persuades the king not to execute other, lesser advisors.

But his colleagues became jealous and tricked the king into passing a decree criminalizing Jewish prayer. As Israel was thrown into the docks of The Hague, so Daniel will be thrown into the lion's den.

South Africa, like other post-colonial countries, aspires to Israel's success. Israel continues to be the best example of how oppressed peoples can achieve greatness by taking control of their own destiny. Its success arouses admiration, but also envy.

In South Africa's case, the ruling party is using Israel as a scapegoat for its own failures, which have turned a once-prosperous country into a dangerous kleptocracy that can barely keep the lights on. South Africa protects Russia, Zimbabwe and Sudan, but targets only Israel.

It is blatant discrimination, and the reversal of victim and perpetrator is a classic theme of anti-Semitism.

Adolf Hitler made his last political statements from his bunker in Berlin. claimed World War II was started by the Jews, who were “the real culprits in this murderous struggle.”

South Africa and its legal team, who even misquoted the Bible in their arguments, also belong to this tradition.

Israel, like Daniel, will survive the lion's den. But South Africa's global reputation says otherwise.
