South Carolina Dance Teacher Arrested for Inappropriate Conduct
A dance instructor in South Carolina was taken into custody after an investigation was launched, triggered by concerns raised by her parents regarding the dance routines she was teaching.
Andrea Mizell, 45, faces a range of serious accusations, including providing alcohol to students, engaging in lewd conversations, showing explicit images of herself, and inappropriately touching her pupils during lessons, as reported in a police incident report.
She has been charged with multiple counts, including four counts of second-degree assault and battery, contributions to minor delinquency, and four additional charges related to the exposure of minors to harmful materials, according to court documents.
The inquiry into Mizell began on March 12, following complaints made to the Hanahan police about the nature of discussions occurring at the dance school.
Some parents expressed moral concerns about the routines and practices their children were subjected to.
Reportedly, after Mizell attempted to arrange a meeting with one of the concerned parents, she fled in her car after encountering several other parents at the school, according to police statements.
Subsequently, Mizell conveyed feelings of fear regarding the police involvement, as documented in the reports.
In interviews with the children present at the dance school, authorities learned that Mizell had allegedly served them alcohol and engaged in inappropriate conversations.
She is believed to have invited some students to her residence and offered them margaritas while watching a movie.
Additionally, she supposedly discussed her sexual life with them, which raises further alarms.
According to local media reports, students described incidents where Mizell touched them inappropriately, including areas considered private. One student alleged that this behavior occurred several times during practice sessions, with Mizell asserting she “does not get in her way” when it comes to touching them.
There were also claims that Mizell would change her clothes in front of the students, often exposing herself. Efforts to reach Mizell for a comment have been made, but to no avail.
