South Park Delays Episode Premiere
“South Park” unexpectedly postponed the launch of an episode set to air on Wednesday.
Comedy Central decided to pull the Season 27 episode titled “Got a Nut,” which humorously targeted Kirk and other conservative figures, just hours after his tragic assassination on September 10. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone later announced that the episode isn’t finished yet, and it will now debut on September 24.
In a statement, they acknowledged, “Apparently when you do everything at the last minute sometimes you don’t get it done. This one’s on us. We didn’t get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central and South Park fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week!”
The creators also shared a schedule for upcoming episodes running through December 10.
The “Got a Nut” episode portrayed Eric Cartman mimicking Kirk’s style while participating in a mock debate. It also included jabs at President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, and the administration’s ICE raids.
Kirk reacted positively to the satire, calling his depiction “awesome.”
Andrew Kolvet, Kirk’s executive producer, emphasized his boss’s good-natured reaction on Wednesday and encouraged Paramount to ensure the episode remains available.
Kolvet mentioned, “Charlie loved that he was featured in South Park. He told me many times. He would want the episode back up.”
In July, Paramount, the parent company of Comedy Central, reached a $16 million settlement with Trump after he claimed that CBS News’ “60 Minutes” misled audiences by editing an interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. Some liberal critics suggested that Paramount was catering to Trump to improve its chances for regulatory approval of a significant merger with Skydance.
Later that month, the Federal Communications Commission approved the $8 billion acquisition of Paramount Global by Skydance Media.
