Mr. Johnson (R-Louisiana) told reporters Friday. He said there that Congress would abide by the major spending agreement announced on Sunday.

This has caused tension within the Republican Party because the deal is similar to the one that led to the ouster of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said that ultimately it's not the amount agreed to that matters, but how the money is spent.

He said Republicans didn't need to compromise to ensure border security and warned Johnson against including more money in aid to Ukraine.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson explained that the agreement includes significant cuts.

“As seen from IRS payoffs and coronavirus-era slush funds, the top-level agreement includes tough concessions that will cut billions of dollars more. It replaces gimmicks,” he said. “And that brings Congress much closer to normal order, and that's our big effort here.”

He went on to say he has spoken with many members across the Republican conference and is keeping his promise to decentralize the office.

Congress now needs to agree on the spending process to move forward with a vote.
