First appearance on Fox: House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) issued a rebuttal to President Biden’s State of the Union address hours before the commander in chief heads to the Capitol.

Mr. Johnson released a new video on Thursday morning, lasting about a minute and a half, highlighting the crisis that has plagued the United States throughout much of Mr. Biden’s White House tenure.

The House speaker also attacked Biden in a statement to Fox News Digital, calling for a “real leader” in the White House.

“The State of the Union address provides the American people an opportunity to hear directly from the president, a rare event during a president’s term in office,” Johnson said.

“In just three years, President Biden’s policies have rapidly accelerated America’s decline on every issue from the economy to national security to foreign policy. The American people need empty words on a page to reset.” “We need better policy and real policy,” he added.

The video, a collection of news clips and soundbites, begins with Biden declaring that “the federal nation is strong.”

He then jumps between anchors and experts to explain the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border. The surge in asylum seekers is straining state and local resources, and the influx of illegal fentanyl is killing Americans every day.

The video also features Biden defending “Bidenomics” despite high inflation and rising grocery store prices over the past two years, as well as China’s increasing aggression in Taiwan and on the world stage. ing.

This is part of a Republican effort to counter Biden’s big speech before a joint session of Congress starting at 9 p.m. ET.

Prime Minister Johnson announced Wednesday that Rep. Monica Delacruz (R-Texas) will deliver a Spanish-language rebuttal to Biden’s State of the Union address. This comes as Republicans note a significant increase in Hispanic and Latino voters.

“As the first Latina woman and the first Republican to represent her district, Dela Cruz’s journey to Congress is nothing short of inspirational and encapsulates the essence of what it means to live the American Dream. Sadly, three years later that dream is fading away, “open borders, runaway inflation, a nation inviting invasion and projecting weakness on the world stage,” Johnson said.

A formal rebuttal is expected to be delivered by freshman Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.).
