LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Rep. Doug Lamalfa (R-CA) told Breitbart News Thursday that new California firefighters should include “special masters” to ensure that funds are spent in the way Congress intends.
Councillors Ramalfa, who have a district that includes the town of Paradise, destroyed in the 2018 camp fire, spoke with Breitbart News after visiting the Palisade Fire Area, which includes personal meetings with dozens of residents. It was my second visit to the area since January.
Breitbart News: There is a supplementary funding law for fire relief. And do you think we can provide it for the Special Master, the office of special masters to oversee funds to ensure that they are properly spent in California?
Ramalfa: No matter what, I think it's a good idea. Because we're beginning to talk about what billions of people are pouring into. It's really hard to know where the money is when it's full, such as what the government has to do, disasters or anything like that. And we discover in this Doge process and what is happening there, and those opportunities are just full. Therefore, this is not for people in this fire or other disaster. It always seems good to have it, as federal costs are other people's money. We hope it helps fire victims, bring the infrastructure back together, and helps people to keep their lives organized in place of contractors and people who make a lot of money with jobs that are usually achievable. The idea first came to mind by the author at a town hall meeting with President Donald Trump in Pallisard, the Pacific Ocean, after a massive wildfire in January. President Trump quickly agreed to the proposal on live television.
The idea was based on the mechanism used by Congress and the White House, where funds were allocated to the families of the victims on September 11, 2001, reaching the actual intended recipients and properly managed.
Public Law 107-42passed on September 22, 2001 and includes provisions to the Special Masters to oversee funding.

(2) Promulgate all procedural and substantive rules relating to the administration of this title. and
(3) Employ and supervise hearing officers and other managers to carry out the duties of special masters under this title.
(b) Budget approval. – You have the authority to allocate the amount required to pay the special master's administrative and support costs when running this title.
General John Ashcroft of the time appointed Attorney Kenneth Feinberg as special master to oversee the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. He is generally considered to have done outstanding work in strict cirucmstances.
The idea of a California special master is because the nation continues to have a pattern of financial mismanagement. This month they were forced to borrow more than $6 billion to maintain Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program. Breitbart News also said, “In 2019… the co-author of California's Cap and Trade Act accused Democrats (his own party) of diverting funds for investments that have little to do with the original intent of the program.”
The newspaper also erred saying that public radio in the left-leaning capital had lied to the public about state spending on wildfire prevention.[T]He misrepresented his achievements and even invested in preventing wildfires. ”
When conservative radio host Michael Savage nurtured the idea on a recent podcast, Newsom looked confused.
The White House can appoint special masters through executive action, but the legislative options are more reliable as they will retain offices through subsequent administrations.
Ramalfa recalls what he saw on his second visit to the Parisades fire and says he hopes the Pacific community of Pallisard will meet enthusiastic residents.
He said the responsibility lies with the federal government to manage public lands safer and more sustainably.
