Spencer Pratt Challenges Socialist Candidate in Fiery Debate
Reality TV personality Spencer Pratt put the heat on Nitya Raman during a lively Los Angeles mayoral debate on Wednesday night. Raman, a Democratic Socialist and City Council member, talked about her efforts to address homelessness.
Pratt didn’t hold back, criticizing Raman for the “Inside Safe” program she supports. “Honestly, calling it inside safety really puts everyone outside at risk,” he quipped. He argued that simply providing beds wouldn’t solve the crisis, citing drug addiction as a primary issue. “According to DEA stats, 93 percent of this problem is related to drugs. Go under the Harbor Freeway, and who knows, you might get stabbed!”
In his remarks, Pratt didn’t spare the current Mayor, Karen Bass, who recently lost her home to a fire. Raman accused both Pratt and Bass of colluding to keep her from competing effectively in the race.
“I’ve never worked with Mayor Bass,” Pratt asserted, trying to clarify the accusations, to which Bass laughed in response. He emphasized that old leftist policies are contributing to the decline in living conditions across Los Angeles.
Interestingly, despite competing as a Republican in a predominantly Democratic landscape, Pratt seems to be gaining traction. Reports indicate he has outpaced his opponents in fundraising.
During the debate, Raman faced significant challenges, as noted by analysts. “What surprised me was how tough of a night it was for her,” Politico’s Dustin Gardiner remarked to KNBC TV. “She struggled with some important answers, and the moderators had difficulty prompting her with yes or no questions.”
Pratt’s unexpected performance appears to be captivating some attention, raising questions about the dynamics of the race ahead.
