As President Joe Biden continues to face calls to withdraw from the presidential race and concerns grow about whether he has the mental and physical health to serve another term, state and local Democrats are feeling the pressure and urging Biden to step aside.
New York Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado (D-New York), Rep. Pat Ryan (D-NY) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Connecticut) are among a growing number of Democrats calling on Biden to withdraw from the race to allow for the emergence of a “candidate who can re-energize and re-invigorate the American people.”
“President Biden deserves our eternal gratitude for what he has accomplished,” Delgado said. statement“By defeating Donald Trump in 2020 and leading the nation’s recovery from the pandemic, he helped restore faith in America at home and abroad.”
Delgado added that there is “no greater threat to American democracy than former President Donald Trump.”
“He must be defeated, and that’s why I join millions of Americans, including ordinary New Yorkers from all walks of life, who are voicing legitimate concerns about whether President Biden can successfully run the election against President Trump,” Delgado added.
The New York lieutenant governor added that he believes Democrats “should move forward with a candidate who can reinvigorate and inspire the American people who are committed to protecting our democracy and who we believe can win.”

Ryan took over from Delgado after he became lieutenant governor. post X argued that while Biden is a “patriot,” he is “no longer the best candidate to defeat Trump.”
“Trump is an existential threat to American democracy, and it is our duty to field the strongest candidate capable of running against him,” Ryan wrote. “Joe Biden is a patriot, but he is no longer the best candidate to defeat Trump. In the interest of our country, I am calling on Joe Biden to step down so he can fulfill his promise to be a bridge to a new generation of leadership.”

Wednesday, Blumenthal Said Blumenthal told reporters he was “deeply concerned” that Biden would defeat former President Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election, adding that he “supports” Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee.
“I am deeply concerned about Joe Biden winning in November because a victory for Donald Trump would threaten the very existence of our nation,” Blumenthal said. “So I think we have to come to that conclusion as quickly as possible, and I am supporting Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee.”

Pressure is growing for Biden to “stand down” and withdraw from the race after the president appeared frozen, struggled to finish his prepared closing statement and sounded hoarse during the June 27 presidential debate between Biden and Trump.
Biden held in-person and virtual meetings with Democratic governors last week and held a conference call with the Association of Democratic Mayors on Tuesday night.
During a conference call with about 200 Democratic mayors, Biden said he had “set out my vision for a second term.” CBS News.
Biden remains adamant that he has no plans to withdraw from the presidential race.
