Statewide sex trafficking scheme involved a DOC worker and her former inmate boyfriend exploiting a child, according to prosecutors.

A corrections officer in New York and her former inmate boyfriend were arrested on Tuesday, facing serious charges related to sex trafficking and operating a prostitution ring that involved at least one minor, as stated by prosecutors.

Deanna DiCastro, 39, and Guillam Cordero, 38, are accused of orchestrating sex trafficking operations in various locations throughout the state, including Manhattan, the Bronx, Rome, and Utica, during the period from October 2025 to January 2026, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities revealed that the couple had been together for about four years, arranging prostitution services at hotels located in Manhattan and the Bronx.

It’s reported that DiCastro, who works for the state’s Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, used her home in Rome as a hub for their activities while traveling upstate.

The couple allegedly coordinated for at least one underage girl to meet various clients in hotel rooms throughout their three-month operation. They also instructed the girl on how much to charge the supposed clients.

In early October, they reportedly began promoting the illegal operation by posting on the “secret dating” site MegaPersonals.

In a concerning incident in November, Cordero allegedly followed and threatened a victim at gunpoint, acting on DiCastro’s orders, and demanded his belongings, according to prosecutors.

While DiCastro holds a firearms license with ten registered pistols, Cordero, a convicted felon, is prohibited from owning guns.

Cordero has a history that includes serving time for a robbery where he and his gang forced victims to undress before stealing from them.

Both have been charged with child sex trafficking, first-degree robbery, and third-degree promoting prostitution.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr. indicated that the investigation is still underway and encouraged anyone with pertinent information to reach out to the human trafficking unit in his office.
