NFL free agent Stefon Diggs strongly refuted claims made on Instagram that he described dating his ex, rapper Cardi B, as a poor choice.
The 32-year-old All-Pro receiver, who was let go by the Patriots after participating in the 2026 Super Bowl, responded directly in the comments section of a post. A South African website, Entertainment SA, had shared a screenshot supposedly showing Diggs discussing aspects of his personal life.
The screenshot included a statement that read: “The wrong decision I recently made…I fell in love with a prostitute who had three children. It brought bad luck to my life, my business, supporters, and partners. It tarnished my status.”
As of Thursday afternoon, the original Instagram Story from Diggs was no longer available.
In response to the post, Diggs commented, “LOL, I would never say no to something stupid like this. I wouldn’t say that about the mother of my child. Stop lying to the internet so the clicks on your page disappear.”
Diggs has multiple children with different partners, while Cardi gave birth to her son in November.
Cardi has three children with her estranged husband, rapper Offset: daughters Kulture, 7, and Blossom, 1, and son Wave, 4.
Entertainment SA pinned Diggs’ response at the top of the comments on their post.
Diggs and Cardi made their relationship public on Instagram in June, but they reportedly split just days before the Seahawks triumphed over the Patriots 29-13 in the Super Bowl on February 8.
Cardi attended the game and even performed during Bad Bunny’s halftime show, dancing among other celebrities.
After the Super Bowl, Diggs and Cardi reportedly unfollowed each other on Instagram. Cardi later mentioned during a concert in Los Angeles on February 15 that she was “not dating” Diggs.
Speculation about a possible reunion arose when Diggs attended one of Cardi’s performances on her Little Miss Drama Tour with family on April 8 in Washington, D.C.
Meanwhile, Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowler, was released by the Patriots in March after just one season, despite having signed a three-year, $69 million contract the previous spring. He recorded 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in the 2025 season.
His release by New England was reportedly due to financial reasons. In addition, Diggs is facing serious legal troubles stemming from a strangulation charge related to a dispute with a former chef.
A police report alleges that Diggs assaulted the woman in his home, and he has pleaded not guilty to the felony charge and other-related offenses.
His trial is set to commence on May 4, according to court records.
