Steph Curry becomes popular for rapping Jay-Z in Cannes

Stephen Curry’s Offseason Adventures in France

As the Warriors look to add another top-tier player to their roster this summer, Stephen Curry appears quite satisfied soaking up the sun and rapping along with Jay-Z on the French Riviera.

Recently named one of Time Magazine’s inaugural 100 Most Influential People in Sports, Curry was spotted belting out “Empire State of Mind” at Cannes’ luxurious La Guerrite beach club this week, with attendees cheering him on.

In a short clip, he was seen standing amidst crowded tables, overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean, cell phone in hand, gesturing to the lyrics while guests captured the moment on their phones.

For those acquainted with Curry’s music taste, this was hardly unexpected.

He has often expressed his admiration for Jay-Z and even referenced the rap icon in one of his own tunes. It’s clear that Jay-Z ranks among his favorites.

While many NBA stars might be found working out and sharing videos during their offseasons, Curry chose to turn a delightful lunch into an impromptu rap session, showcasing his laid-back side.

This appearance in Cannes is just one highlight of his increasingly enviable European trip.

Recently, he was photographed enjoying time in Saint-Tropez alongside his wife Ayesha, family, and friends. Curry was seen shirtless, hopping between a luxury boat and a private yacht just off the French coast.

This break seems well-deserved following a tough season.

Curry missed 27 games due to a lingering knee issue but made a strong return late in the season, helping the Warriors re-enter playoff conversations. He even had some classic performances, including a notable 35-point game in the play-in tournament, though the Warriors ultimately did not progress in the postseason.

This summer, he’s also gaining recognition for more than just his athletic prowess.

Time magazine highlighted his revolutionary impact on basketball, particularly through the three-point shooting focus, alongside his contributions to entertainment and philanthropy.

The timing of this recognition is significant, as the Warriors seem to be entering a pivotal phase.

With Coach Steve Kerr’s contract aligned with Curry’s current one, there seems to be a clear intention for one final title run. The Warriors are concentrating on maximizing Curry’s championship window rather than rebuilding.

At 38, Curry continues to be the franchise’s face, a key figure in the evolution of the NBA, and an influential figure in sports.

But for now, it seems the only “last dance” Curry is interested in involves the backdrop of yachts and beach clubs along the Mediterranean.
