Stephen King Praises Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool Renovation

Stephen King, a prolific novelist and Hollywood producer known for his outspoken criticism of Republicans, has expressed surprisingly positive opinions about the recently renovated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C.

On social media, King shared his admiration for the pool’s beauty, which is situated prominently on the National Mall. This transformation was, interestingly enough, initiated by President Trump, who has previously faced King’s harsh public criticisms.

The 70-year-old author simply remarked, “It’s so beautiful,” in response to a post about the pool. This sentiment stands in stark contrast to his past remarks, where he labeled Trump a “Russian asset” and called for his removal from office. In fact, King has often used Twitter to voice his disdain for the president.

Now, it seems King has found at least one reason to be cheerful. The renovation, spurred by Trump, involved coating the pool with a new “Stars and Stripes Blue” surface, replacing what Trump described as a deteriorating granite that was “leaking like a sieve.”

This renovation has drawn some attention from former critics, who have now shifted their perspective. Initially, the media focused on the color choice for the pool, speculating it could look “very gruesome,” but such criticism has quieted with the successful refurbishment.

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is a key cultural landmark, famously associated with Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech given in 1963. With the revitalization ahead of America’s 250th anniversary, various officials are praising Trump’s efforts. Secretary of the Interior Burgum highlighted the complexity of the project and credited Trump for his vision, noting that the pool previously leaked a staggering 45,000 gallons of water daily.

As the nation prepares for a major milestone, it seems that perhaps even the most vocal opponents can find common ground in the beauty of a revitalized national monument.
