Steve Deace’s passionate message to conservative Christians after the midterms: “America even harder”

After Tuesday night’s midterm results left Republicans stunned and conservatives discouraged, BlazeTV host Steve Deace offered his audience a direct response: work harder.

“I’m not wearing black to mourn,” he said. “I’m wearing it because it’s time to raise the black flag. As Andrew Breitbart put it: ‘War.’”

Deace said the losses carried a sobering message: America is divided between two cultures in deep conflict with each other.

He acknowledged that the Republican Party and the Trump administration have serious problems, but argued that those involved must address them. Conservative Christians, he said, have a different responsibility.

Rather than complain, grieve, retreat online, or give up, Deace urged listeners to put more effort into the parts of life they can shape.

That means, he said, being more engaged at church, listening closely to sermons, praying, repenting, caring for family, and working hard. Activists should stay active, while everyone can invest more in community and family traditions.

Deace described this as a Christian response to political defeat. Christians, he argued, should not surrender to despair: “If you’re a Christian, it’s never over.”

He called the midterm results a source of clarity that could help conservatives organize and find renewed purpose. People may not be able to control everything, he said, but they can work harder to preserve and share American traditions, heritage, and history.

Recalling advice Charlie Kirk once gave him, Deace closed with a similar message: whatever Americans are doing, they should do it with greater commitment.
