New analysis from Newsbusters at the Media Research Center highlights a significant liberal bias on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” It shows a staggering 92% of Kimmel’s political jokes target conservatives, while Democrats face far less scrutiny.
The study examined 7,797 political jokes from 369 episodes, finding that 7,189 were aimed at right-leaning individuals, compared to just 565 directed at the left and 43 at nonpartisan subjects.
Interestingly, former President Joe Biden is the only Democrat to make Kimmel’s top 10 favorite targets, with 336 jokes aimed at him.
Kimmel’s jokes primarily target Donald Trump, who holds the top spot with 3,584 instances. Other Republicans mentioned include former New York Rep. George Santos, First Lady Melania Trump, and Elon Musk.
According to Newsbusters, since September 2022, all of Kimmel’s guests (61 total) have been liberals. This analysis follows Kimmel’s indefinite show suspension after he commented on the assassination of Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA.
In response to pressure from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Disney announced last week that Kimmel’s show would be temporarily replaced. This decision came after comments were made about conservatives and Kirk’s tragic event.
Trump has characterized Kimmel’s show as a form of “Great News for America.” Kimmel criticized what he called “new lows” from the right, particularly in the wake of Kirk’s assassination.
Nexstar Media Group, which owns a number of TV stations, recently stated they would preempt Kimmel’s show, choosing to replace it with different programming due to his remarks regarding Robinson.
Amid the suspension, many late-night hosts and celebrities are voicing their support for Kimmel, suggesting that the FCC and the Trump administration are infringing on free speech rights. Some Republicans have echoed concerns about the implications for the First Amendment.
Fox News Digital attempted to reach Disney for a statement but had not received a response at the time of reporting.
