Kansas Teacher Accused of Sexual Relations with Students

In a court appearance on Monday, a Kansas alternative teacher faced serious allegations involving sexual encounters with two students during an alcohol-fueled incident earlier this year.

Whitney Shall, 39, formerly of Nickerson South Hutchinson USD 309, is accused of engaging in sexual acts with two teenagers—one was consensual, while the other happened when the victim was unconscious. The complaints were documented in Reno County District Court, noting that the alleged victims were 16 and 17 years old and enrolled in the school.

Shall is also accused of attempting to engage a third teenager in sexual activity, although that effort did not succeed. The incidents reportedly took place in Reno County from January 31 to February 1, and an investigation is underway by the Reno County Sheriff’s Office.

She faces multiple charges, including two counts of illegal sexual relations with students, attempted illegal sexual relations, sexual battery involving minors, and minors consuming alcohol. Shall holds an emergency alternative education license allowing her to work within the Nickerson School District. Records indicate she was released from jail on June 2.

This recent court hearing marked Shall’s first since her arrest, yet her legal team was absent. A status hearing is scheduled for July 23.
