Summer Box Office Down 11% — Non-Woke Movies Avert Catastrophe

The summer show season is over Depressed That's an 11 percent increase over the summer of 2023, and let's not forget that summer 2023 wasn't a particularly strong box office success.

The 2024 summer season (the first weekend in May through Labor Day) is projected to have a domestic box office gross of $3.6 billion, down 11% from 2023 and only slightly higher (6%) than the 2022 summer box office gross of $3.39 billion.

The summers of 2020 and 2021 were lost due to the pandemic, so if we return to a normal box office year, summer 2024 box office revenues would be 17% lower than 2019's $4.32 billion and 19% lower than summer 2018's $4.41 billion.

And that's just the summer box office.

So far this year, box office revenues for 2024 are still down 14 percent compared to 2023.

Still, Hollywood is taking a breather from these numbers. Why? Because summer began with box office takings down 30 percent this year compared to 2023.

Also, the movies that were expected to be profitable actually did. After the franchise movies Furiosa: A Mad Max Story After a string of Girlboss flops, there were serious concerns that audiences were no longer interested in movies.

What saved your summer?

The answer is simple: movies for regular people. Girlbosses (i.e. Furiosa), gay sex, no woke stupidity. Many of these titles prove that all of the excuses for woke movies to fail are blatant lies.

  • Bad Boys: Ride or Die It made a ton of money and proved that Americans hate woke people, not movies starring black people.
  • Inside Out 2 It broke records and proved that Americans hate woke people, not movies starring little girls.
  • A Quiet Place: Day 1 Neatly proving that Americans hate woke people, not movies starring black women.
  • Deadpool and Wolverine It's anti-woke and still making money weeks after its release.
  • Twisters, Despicable Me, It Ends With Us, Alien: Romulus — Bang, bang, bang, bang… They were all hits. They were released without the studio pushing identity politics or homosexuality or any political agenda.

Hell, the director behind it Twister He made it very clear that his film was not political and was not a long-winded sermon about global warming or climate change. That was very clever marketing.

In other words, what saved Hollywood from looming catastrophe in May was… escapism! Entertainment! Laughter! Wow, how shocking is that? The thing that has drawn people to movies for 100 years is still drawing people to them today? Who could have expected this to happen?

2023 was a terrible year for Disney and Marvel. Everything was a flop or a disappointment. Everything was woke garbage. In the summer of 2024, Disney and Marvel produced two of the biggest hits of the year. Inside Out 2 and Deadpool and Wolverine. The Disney grooming syndicate scored a point by including homosexuality in their animated movies after three years and then pulling the plug; Marvel scored a point by mocking woke people for three years.

Will Hollywood learn real lessons from the bright spots at the box office for summer 2024?

I hope that's not the case.

Die, Hollywood, die.
