A number of drone sightings have made headlines this week in New Jersey and across the country as Congress scrambles to avoid a Dec. 20 government shutdown deadline.
Democrats have been searching for answers since Republicans secured a trifecta after Election Day, with some criticizing the party's messaging around table issues such as inflation, wages and accelerating trends in wealth inequality. For others, the issue is caused by the ongoing Israeli-Hamas war and heated debates over culture wars, including LGBTQ issues such as transgender rights.
Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Ben Wikler appears on NewsNation's “The Hill” to talk about his candidacy for Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman while current party leader Jamie Harrison is not seeking re-election. I plan to talk about it.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (R-Vermont) is scheduled to appear on NBC's “Meet the Press.” Sanders, a prominent progressive who has served in Congress since 1991, has attracted attention after saying in an interview that he does not intend to seek re-election after his term ends in 2030. Mr. Sanders' interview took place in the midst of a Democratic race. Adjusting for losses, the federal government moves toward Republican control.
President-elect Trump is scheduled to return to the Oval Office next month, giving Republicans control of both chambers of Congress.
FOX's “Sunday Morning Futures” will be hosted by Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes. On Saturday, President Trump nominated Nunes to head his intelligence advisory board.
ABC's “This Week” will be hosted by Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Missouri), whose name has been talked about for a leadership role in the Republican Party. Schmidt had emerged as a front-runner to chair the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) in 2026 before deciding not to run in October. He withdrew from the race last month, but his name has resurfaced as a candidate for the next attorney general of the incoming Trump administration. The senator recently made headlines for calling on President Trump to fire Department of Justice (DOJ) officials who investigated his case.
Former Gov. Chris Christie (R.N.J.) will appear on ABC's “This Week” as New Jersey is one of the areas affected by mysterious drone sightings. Calls for an investigation have been growing, many from lawmakers in the northeast of the country.
However, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas suggested in a CNN interview on Friday that the drones reportedly seen were not “vicious” or “a threat.”
“Fox News Sunday” will feature Connecticut Representative Jim Himes (Democratic), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee. He also appeared during drone sightings.
Congressman Mike Walz (R-Florida), who was nominated by President Trump to be National Security Adviser, will appear on CBS's “Face the Nation.” The president-elect on Friday called on authorities to shoot down the drone and suggested the government needs to know more about the mysterious sightings.
