Sununu reacts to ‘Never Nikki’ site: ‘Nobody cares what Rand Paul thinks’

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) said Friday morning that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) had targeted Nikki Haley's campaign on Friday morning. “No one cares what Sen. Paul thinks,” he said during an appearance on Newsmax.

Sununu, who supported Haley in the December Republican primary, was asked about Paul's newly fabricated anti-support for Haley during an appearance on Newsmax on Friday. The Libertarian-leaning senator said Haley is the “only” Republican candidate he doesn't like.

“What does this mean for her campaign?” the hosts asked Sununu.

“What do you mean Rand Paul? Nothing,” Sununu replied. “I'm sorry, but no one cares what Rand Paul thinks in this race. This race is in Iowa and New Hampshire. It's in South Carolina. There's a surge in candidates. is only her.”

Sununu repeated his response later in the interview, doubling down on his criticism of Paul.

“Perhaps when the U.S. Senate actually starts doing something and actually starts producing some results, they can stand on their soapbox and think their words matter.” Sununu said. “But until then, sorry, Rand Paul, no one cares.”

Sununu's reaction came after the Kentucky senator disparaged Haley's foreign policy stance and said she was from the “Dick Cheney, John McCain wing of the party.”

The senator even launched a website called “Never Nikki,” where he says there is no clear choice on who to support in the primary, “But one thing I do know: Never Nikki.” It means having them counted.”

Paul, who ran for president in 2016, did not rule out the possibility of campaigning against Haley, whose polling numbers in New Hampshire are soaring thanks in part to Sununu's support.

During the interview, Sununu also downplayed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' chances in the primary, saying, “It's effectively a one-on-one fight between Nicki and Donald Trump at this point.” Stated.
