Super Bowl 2024 odds, early lookahead: Public bettors hammering Chiefs

Money continues to flow into the Chiefs as the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas approaches.

Data shared by BetMGM Sportsbook with the Post on Thursday shows Kansas City is getting the lion’s share of bets on the outbreak compared to all 20 states plus Washington, D.C.

BetMGM has five times more bets on the Chiefs to win than on the 49ers.

Overall, the Chiefs have won nearly three-quarters of both tickets and spread handles, with 73 percent of the wagers and 74 percent of the money in their hands.

The nation is paying more attention to the Chiefs on the money line.

A whopping 84% of the bets and 77% of the handles are on Kansas City winning their second straight Super Bowl.

Of course, the Chiefs are very popular among bettors in the Midwest.

Especially in Kansas, where 93 percent of the bets and 95 percent of the funds go to the Chiefs to cover the spread.

After the Chiefs opened the season as a 2.5-point underdog, the line briefly moved to Chiefs +1, but has settled to +2 as of Friday afternoon.

Although not a popular bet this week, sports bettors have flocked to the 49ers all season.

BetMGM told the Post earlier this week that 16.7% of all Super Bowl futures bets were on San Francisco, the most of any team in the NFL.

The point total for Super Bowl 58 started with 47 points and then rose to 47.5 points.

At BetMGM, about 70% of bets and funds are over.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes remains the frontrunner for Super Bowl MVP (+125) despite Kansas City being an underdog heading into the big game.

49ers signal-caller Brock Purdy (+220) has the second-best odds behind Mahomes, followed by San Francisco running back Christian McCaffrey (+450).
