Strange Incidents Disrupt WNBA Games
A group of cryptocurrency investors is reportedly behind a bizarre series of events involving the throwing of green sex toys onto WNBA courts, which has sparked outrage and drawn attention to the league. This unusual protest has added an odd layer to the ongoing controversies surrounding women’s basketball.
During games in locations such as Atlanta, Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, bright green phallic objects were hurled onto the hardwood, causing a commotion among players and fans alike. This activity has resulted in at least two arrests and significant backlash.
The incidents appear to be a marketing stunt for a so-called “meme” coin. It’s thought that these digital currencies are gaining traction as more investors jump on board.
The creators of Green Dildo Coin Tokens have not publicly identified themselves, but a supporter who requested anonymity spoke with NBC News. This individual insisted that the initiative was not racially or sexually motivated, claiming instead that it aims to disrupt what they termed the “Influencer Cabal” and others deemed problematic.
“We’re trying to bring back humor into the meme coin space and revitalize the lost culture surrounding these cryptocurrencies,” he stated.
He mentioned that four individuals were involved in the stunt last Tuesday. While one person hesitated to participate, another’s throw missed its target. One individual was arrested as a result.
Media outlets, including USA Today and The New York Times, have reported on the events surrounding Crypto Connection.
A spokesperson for the token initiative shared with NBC News that their campaign was scheduled to launch on July 28, featuring a website, products, NFTs, and even a Telegram group with over 1,000 members.
Despite the considerable backlash, the spokesperson viewed the campaign as effective. “People are engaging with it,” he noted, adding that it has become prominent in various social circles. “This is about creating a fun, new platform for memes.”
The response from the WNBA community has been strong. “The safety and happiness of everyone in our arena is our top priority,” stated a WNBA official. “Any object thrown onto the court represents a safety risk for players, staff, and fans.” Furthermore, anyone caught throwing an object will face immediate removal and a minimum one-year ban from games.
Despite the disapproval, the prank has found some unexpected support. Donald Trump Jr. seemed to endorse it, sharing a meme suggesting that the President, from the White House, tossed green sex toys onto WNBA courts.
So far, there have been at least six instances of this vulgar prank during games, including one involving a green adult toy tossed just before a Phoenix Mercury game, reportedly hitting a man and his nine-year-old niece in the crowd. This incident has prompted potential legal actions against the perpetrator.
Kaden Lopez, the individual involved, was apprehended after attempting to flee the scene; he later described the situation as a “dumb prank that’s trending online.” Lopez is associated with the Core Memecoin Launch Group, though the spokesperson stated they had no prior knowledge of him.
Delbert Carver, implicated in another incident during an Atlanta game, reportedly admitted to the police that he intended for the stunt to go viral. He is now facing multiple charges.
All in all, this chaotic outburst has drawn mixed reactions, showcasing how humor and controversy can intersect in unexpected ways.
