Supreme Court Denies Oklahoma’s Religious Charter School Proposal
On Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to allow Oklahoma to create its first religious charter school. The decision was a tie, 4-4, as conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett opted not to hear the case. This means that the ruling from the Oklahoma Supreme Court will remain in effect, which found that establishing St. Isidor, a Seville Catholic Virtual School, would breach the federal constitution and uphold the existing state law.
The court did not clarify how individual justices voted on the case.
