Family of elderly woman with dementia released Police released a video of her sexual assault to help identify and arrest the suspect.
The horrific abuse occurred around 6:45 p.m. Monday at a woman’s apartment in Pacoima, Southern California.
According to the family, the video showed the 81-year-old woman answering the front door and then the man entering her home. The man then went to another room to investigate, returned and assaulted the woman, forcing her to perform a sex act.
The victim’s son-in-law told KABC-TV about the heinous incident, but asked for his face to be blurred to protect his and the victim’s identities.
“The video showed him doing something I would never wish on anyone,” said a relative of the victim. “There are a lot of elderly people in this area. This guy needs to get off the streets. This probably isn’t the first time, this probably won’t be the last time he does something like this, and he won’t ever do it again.” right.”
The family said they installed cameras so no one could see them.
“The camera in the living room is pretty hidden, so we hid it from her,” the son-in-law explained. “So that she wouldn’t try to turn her off. And he never saw that camera in the living room.”
On Friday afternoon, Los Angeles Police Department detectives told KABC They were able to identify and arrest the suspect. The suspect was still near the apartment where the woman lived.

“It appears that Alzheimer’s disease is already quite advanced,” he added.
The son-in-law said he became aware of the incident when his wife noticed that his mother was up later than usual. When he rewound the recording, he was horrified to see the assault.
The son-in-law told KTTV he had doubts about the identity of the attacker.
“He is known to be a lurker. He lurks around the area,” he said.
He added that the woman would not have known what happened without the recording, as she did not remember the incident due to her illness.
Police said they are investigating the incident as attempted rape.
