Targeted vandalism damages Trump-Kennedy Center ice rink

Vandalism at Trump Kennedy Center Halts Performances

Early Friday morning, the Trump Kennedy Center encountered a significant issue when “toxic chemicals” were dumped into its outdoor ice rink, leading to the cancellation of performances. Authorities labeled this act as a “calculated and malicious attack.”

According to the Center’s leadership, a dark substance was poured onto the ice, causing extensive damage to the facility. They emphasized that this was not a protest but a clear act of vandalism aimed at their venue.

Roman Daravi, the Vice President of Public Affairs, stated, “Today’s targeted attack has severely damaged our outdoor arena, forcing us to cancel tonight’s show. We are actively working to restore the program so that we can resume tomorrow.” He also mentioned that video footage of the incident has been shared with the authorities for further investigation.

The leadership confirmed that the brownish-black substance was poured onto the rink early that morning. Images from the scene indicated the substance was widespread, and a container resembling a gallon of milk was also seen on the ice. They noted the substance is considered “toxic,” although the specific chemical composition hasn’t been disclosed yet.

Moreover, the leadership stressed that acts of violence at the Center “will not be tolerated,” and they are committed to holding those responsible accountable.

This incident follows a time of transformation at the Trump Kennedy Center, which has recently been undergoing leadership changes and has secured funds for needed infrastructure improvements. In December 2025, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the renaming of the facility to the Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Performing Arts Center, with President Trump later taking on the role of chairman.

Fox News Digital earlier reported plans for a significant renovation, set to start on July 4, involving substantial investments to address deferred maintenance issues that had been accumulating for years. With Congress allocating $257 million for these efforts in a key funding initiative, officials believe these steps are essential to stabilizing and preserving the iconic venue for future generations.

As it stands, the Trump Kennedy Center is focused on repairing the damaged rink and resuming its programming, while the investigation into the vandalism continues with no suspects or motive identified so far. The White House has yet to respond to inquiries regarding this incident.
