The clock is ticking for Americans to file for their 2020 tax refunds as the May 17 deadline approaches.
Approximately 1 million people have failed to apply, leaving the IRS with a total of more than $1 billion worth of refunds..
The median refund amount in 2020 was $932, with Texas, California, Florida, and New York leading the way with the highest number of taxpayers eligible for refunds.
