Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is calling on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Texas) to resign as Senate Republican leader.
Asked at Tuesday’s press conference if he thought it was time for McConnell to step down, Cruz admitted: “I do.”
“I think Republican leaders should actually lead this conference and advance Republican priorities,” Cruz explained.
Cruz said the problem is that Senate Republican leadership is trying to get Republican Sen. James Lankford (Oklahoma) to co-author the bill with Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.). ). — as a sacrificial lamb to write a bill “designed to lose.”
Cruz said the secret negotiations were a policy fiasco for Republicans.

But the mean Republicans won’t let that happen,” he continued. “I have to say to the Senate Republican leadership, I told them months ago, other conservatives told them months ago, and they continue down this path.
