Teen Charged in Mother’s Stabbing Death

A 17-year-old from Alabama is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing his mother to death and injuring his father during a domestic argument over discipline on Sunday evening.

The authorities report that the youth has been charged with murder and attempted murder.

“I don’t want to die, please help me,” were the words uttered by the father, who was identified as Lance Baker, age 46. He was found outside a neighbor’s house and subsequently hospitalized for his injuries, where he remained in serious condition, according to reports.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the mother’s name was Samantha Baker, 37. She was discovered deceased on Augustine Drive in Daphne.

Investigators detailed that the confrontation escalated inside and outside their home, with the crime scene reportedly stretching over half a block and into adjacent properties.

Sean Scully, a neighbor, recounted reviewing his security footage after the incident. He shared that it was distressing to listen to his father’s pleas for help, noting the prolonged cries for assistance.

After the alleged attack, the suspect locked himself inside the residence, called 911, and was taken into custody at the scene. This situation was characterized by officials as an escalating domestic issue.

“It’s heartbreaking. It’s a tragic event for the family,” Lt. Justin Correa of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office expressed. “What we know so far is that this is an isolated incident that spiraled out of control.”

During a bail hearing, prosecutors sought a high bail amount for the suspect, who is being charged as an adult. His bail was ultimately set at $1 million.
