Oregon Teen Charged with Murder Plot Against ICE Officers
An 18-year-old from Oregon, Rayden Coleman, has been charged in connection with a disturbing plan to murder immigration officers. Reports indicate that Coleman intended to behead them and display their heads at a nearby American Indian reservation.
According to police, Coleman, who hails from St. Helens, discussed his intentions on the platform Discord. He reportedly aimed to target law enforcement, including the father of a friend, as part of his reckless scheme. Authorities apprehended Coleman on Wednesday, charging him with conspiracy, criminal attempt, and the possession and manufacture of a destructive device.
Details surrounding the case reveal that Coleman’s violent sentiments against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intensified after news broke in January about two individuals being shot in Portland by federal agents. “I’m fed up and have been preparing for a while,” he reportedly confided to a friend. “But I have to get down to it. I’m done just standing around. I’m going to dabble in firearms, and if I find an ICE agent that kills or kidnaps civilians, I’ll actively kill them.”
Interestingly, the intended target’s father works as a security guard at the ICE facility in Portland. Furthermore, Coleman’s plan allegedly included taking the severed head of an ICE officer to the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, which houses several tribes. Reports say he and accomplices were even making Molotov cocktails to carry out their plot.
Before the police were involved, Coleman’s friends attempted to talk him out of his plan. One roommate expressed concern, suggesting that Coleman was too valuable to end up in prison.
Coleman is currently being held with a bail set at $400,000, but there’s no word yet from his attorney regarding his case.
