Tesla Owners Wait Hours to Charge Electric Vehicles After Eclipse

Tesla owners reportedly waited hours to charge their cars after Monday’s total solar eclipse. Long lines at charging stations are like salt in the wound for EV owners who have to wait for their cars to charge until they arrive home, causing long delays on busy days. This is a major concern as there is a possibility that

“(The eclipse) was spectacular, but I had to rush back because my Tesla’s battery was low and I realized that all of the charging stations at Jay Peak were taken,” Monica Livesey said. Mr. Miss. Said WCVB.

Livesey, a native of Wakefield, Mass., drove to Vermont in an electric car on Monday to see the total solar eclipse, but the search was a must for the entire family and for other Tesla owners. When she finally found a charging station in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, there were long lines of electric cars, she said.

“I got there with about a mile to go and noticed there were about 60 cars waiting to charge,” Livesey told the magazine.

The Livesey family reportedly assisted the couple in trying to organize the line by handing out numbers to electric car drivers to wait their turn to charge.

“We were giving out paper tickets with numbers on them,” said Livesey’s 16-year-old son Nico, adding: “We were trying to keep it a fun atmosphere.”

“In my mind, I knew it was going to be a long night,” he said.

The Livesey family ended up waiting more than four hours to charge their Tesla before returning home at 4 a.m. Tuesday. They said the last ticket they handed out was number 189 and as they left they saw more people pulling up to the charging station.

“I don’t know where these people are coming from,” said Livesey’s 13-year-old daughter Jessica. She said, “I didn’t know there were so many Teslas.”

Monica Livesey insisted the hassle was “worth it”.

“I don’t mind waiting four hours to charge. It was worth it. It was beautiful,” she said. “I feel like everyone came together as one community. People were hugging each other at the end. They were thanking us.”

The Livesey family isn’t the only family to have experienced a difficult road trip in an electric car.

As Breitbart News reported, a Business Insider reporter was on the brink of an EV road trip when he was forced to pack up without using the car’s interior heater to maximize range. I learned how “cruel” it can be.

Last year, U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm was even called by the police after going on a four-day road trip in an electric car. He had several other issues, including having trouble finding a charger and experiencing long downtimes as the battery charged slowly. .
