A recent baseball game between Southeastern Conference foes was marred by controversy. Georgia Bulldogs pitcher Christian Mulachna’s performance in the bullpen and during the game against the Texas A&M Aggies surprised some.
A video posted on social media showed Mulachna crouched in the corner of the bullpen and fiddling with his glove during Saturday’s game. Aggies manager Jim Schlossnagle appeared to take issue with Mlaquna’s actions, believing that the pitcher may have used some kind of foreign substance on the ball, which would be a violation of the rules.
“It certainly looks that way,” Schlossnagle said in a text message to The Associated Press on Tuesday. “That’s part of the game…I wish I could have caught him.”

Mrakuna also appeared to be reaching for something unknown near or behind the pillar, even though his view was mostly obstructed.
He pitched two innings in Georgia’s 5-4 win over the top-ranked Aggies. Miracuna threw a total of 30 pitches in two innings, 23 of which were strikes. He also struck out six from batters he faced.

When Mulachna took to the pitching mound, he was seen touching the thumb of his glove with his right hand.
Starting in 2021, Major League Baseball pitchers will be subject to drug testing by umpires. University baseball does not currently have this policy in place.
