Texas House Candidate Under Scrutiny for Past Social Media Posts

A review has revealed that Texas House Democratic candidate Bobby Pulido solicited explicit photos from women on social media and made derogatory comments about pornography.

Pulido, a 55-year-old Latin Grammy Award winner known for his controversial past, including a music video in which he was seen masturbating, is challenging Rep. Monica de la Cruz (R-Texas) in the state’s 15th Congressional District.

In a now-deleted 2014 Twitter post, Pulido made a peculiar request: “I’d like a photo of a tit signed by @grupo_pesado.” This was in a response to a post referencing a Mexican band he had worked with before.

Pulido’s comment followed a shirtless selfie he had posted with a caption translated to: “I’m reading you guys with this face, friends…” It seems he was attempting to engage with his followers in a casual manner.

A year prior, he had responded to a user who shared “sexy” photos, expressing mixed feelings about them. The user had commented on his own photo, saying, “You look so sexy, but somehow, it’s too sexy for my tastes.” Pulido thanked her with a simple, “Thank you! Besos.”

His team has not clarified if there were more interactions or the nature of any such exchanges.

Pulido’s behavior has stirred controversy before. Back in 2016, he posted a comment about a photo of Hillary Clinton alongside actress Chloë Grace Moretz, which drew criticism and led to its deletion by the Democratic party.

He has also made other suggestive remarks, noting it’s “impossible to have Twitter and not watch porn” and humorously mentioning various porn sites in past tweets.

These comments have since been removed, but several suggestive posts still remain active on his profile.

Additionally, Pulido has faced backlash due to his ties with former bandmate Frankie Caballero, who was convicted of sexually assaulting a child. Pulido had previously talked about helping Caballero post-incarceration without providing details about the charges.

There are also concerns regarding Caballero’s son, who pleaded guilty to similar offenses in the past, leading to questions about Pulido’s connections and comments.

In response to the scrutiny over his past online behavior, Pulido described these issues as “recycling tabloid nonsense.” He explained that his earlier tweets were often in jest, reflecting a cultural humor unique to South Texas that doesn’t always translate well.

He acknowledged that some tweets were inappropriate and accepted responsibility, stating, “It was my fault and I apologized.”
