Texas Democrats are unsure about Jasmine Crockett's chances in the Senate race.

Democratic voters in Texas are questioning whether Rep. Jasmine Crockett can succeed in the statewide Senate race as the primary approaches.

Recently, a CNN report highlighted voter sentiments during early voting. Crockett will be up against Texas Congressman James Talarico for the nomination.

One voter, Sonya Bernhardt, expressed her emotional struggle in choosing Talarico over Crockett, despite her admiration for the latter. “We need a fighter. I was initially going to vote for Jasmine, but ultimately I chose Talarico because I believe he can win,” Bernhardt shared, calling it one of her hardest voting decisions.

Another undecided voter, Richard Traylor, noted that he feels uncertain about Crockett’s appeal to Latino voters in the general election. “I’ve been going back and forth. I really like her, but I also want someone who can win,” he admitted.

While some voters showed support for Crockett, others voiced worries about her viability in a predominantly red state like Texas. Commentary from Saenz on “Inside Politics” indicated that Crockett’s campaign reflects ongoing debates within the Democratic Party regarding electability and voter outreach. She aims to reconnect with black, young, and Latino voters, which are crucial groups in her strategy.

Comments from progressives suggest skepticism about Crockett’s chances, even if she wins the primary. One anonymous congressman mentioned that she might secure the primary but could struggle in the general election.

In light of this, Crockett responded to criticism from some corners of the left. “I’m being targeted because of my race,” she stated. “It’s unusual for me to face criticism from my own side, and I’ve noticed disturbing tactics in campaigning—like altering my image in ads.”
