Texas girl loses life due to a blackout challenge she encountered online, as grieving parents criticize addictive algorithms.

A 9-year-old girl from Texas, Jacquelyn Blackwell, sadly passed away after unintentionally strangling herself while attempting a dangerous challenge popular on social media. Her heartbroken parents arewarning others that this isn’t something to take lightly.

On February 3rd, Jacquelyn was in her family’s backyard when the tragedy happened. Just before, she had shown her grandmother a video related to this risky challenge that was making its rounds online.

Her father, Curtis Blackwell, described the moment, saying, “She was playing outside like usual, and everything felt… too quiet.” He reflected on the day with profound sadness, stating he had a “miserable” moment when he realized something was off.

When he spotted her around the corner, he initially thought she was just playing. “Jacquelyn!” he called out, surprised to see her in an abnormal position.

Upon rushing to check on her, he found her lifeless, with an umbilical cord wrapped around her neck.

“I did everything possible to help her,” he said. “I tried to give her CPR until the first responders showed up. It was the most horrifying thing I’ve ever witnessed.”

He added, “It was just terrifying to see my daughter in such a vulnerable state because of something so foolish.”

The grief-stricken parents have spoken out against this perilous trend, emphasizing the importance of understanding what children are engaging with online.

“It’s not just a joke or a game; it deals with life and death,” Curtis emphasized.

He also noted that many kids involved are between 9 to 14 years old, stating, “Their brains aren’t fully developed and they can be easily influenced.”

This alarming activity is part of a deadly trend circulating on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, restricting oxygen flow to the brain and posing serious risks like seizures, grave injuries, or even death.
