Texas man admits to murdering flight attendant roommate, say police

A man from Texas has admitted to strangling the roommate of a flight attendant during an argument.

Dennis William Day, who resides in Fort Worth, was arrested and charged on Thursday for the murder of Lana Nofal Solli, a 47-year-old envoy airline flight attendant who had been missing for several months, according to reports.

As per an arrest warrant accessed by a news source, Solli was reported missing on June 11 by a colleague from American Airlines Regional Airlines, who hadn’t heard from her since March 19, when their text exchange abruptly ended.

Solli had lived with Day for about a year and had been on leave due to minor surgeries. She was expected back at work by March 31 but never returned, law enforcement officials noted.

After several days and a visit to her residence, detectives began piecing together a concerning timeline.

On May 8, law enforcement visited the home and took possession of Solli’s car. Day stated that the vehicle had been parked there for nearly two months, yet he claimed he had not seen her during that time, according to the arrest warrant.

Following another welfare check a month later, he reiterated to detectives that he hadn’t seen Solli in months and showed little concern about her whereabouts.

On June 23, a search of Day’s home uncovered surveillance footage that showed him dragging what appeared to be a lifeless body in his backyard, as indicated in the arrest document.

During a subsequent interview, Day reportedly confessed to strangling Solli on the kitchen floor after she allegedly threatened to contact the police, though it’s unclear why she would do so.

He then moved her body outside and purportedly turned off the surveillance system after realizing it had captured the incident.

On Sunday, he allegedly placed Solli’s body in a black trash can and drove to a location near Bowie, Texas, where he disposed of it from a bridge.

During this journey, he discarded her phone into a river near Interstate 35 and got rid of many of her belongings, including a revolver, which he threw into a storm drain, according to the warrant.

Mobile data indicated that Solli’s last outgoing call occurred on March 21, with the signal pinging near Scott Avenue just before midnight.

Law enforcement recovered the revolver registered to Solli, but despite Day being tracked across various locations, Solli’s body has yet to be found. Floods in the area might have washed away any traces, as suggested by reports.

Day is currently held at the Tarrant County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
