Texas man in surprising video accidentally drops bag of weed on floor while going to court

A Texas man found himself in a rather embarrassing situation as he allegedly dropped a bag of marijuana while heading to court for a theft warrant. The incident was caught on surveillance video, showing Gerald Earle, 38, waiting in line at the Harris County Criminal Justice Center in Houston.

As he fidgeted with his loose striped pants, a small bag fell to the floor entirely unnoticed by him. He simply continued his way through the security checkpoint, seemingly oblivious to what had just occurred.

The Harris County Constable’s Office tweeted about the incident, sharing a short clip and highlighting how security teams screen millions each year for contraband in the courthouse. They noted, “Dropped drugs – in court,” emphasizing the unusual situation.

Ultimately, Earle was arrested on charges of possessing up to 4 ounces of marijuana, which is classified as a misdemeanor. Court records indicate he had a notable criminal history and was already wanted by the police for a theft that involved various household items just days prior.

Some of the theft items included a shaving kit and multiple bottles of body wash. It’s somewhat surprising how these things turned into a larger situation, don’t you think?

After the incident, Earle posted a $100 bail and was released. He is expected to return to court this coming Friday.
