Quinn Ewers' college future may not have much more to offer.
Apparently he has his eyes set on the NFL.
In an interview aired on “College GameDay” before the Texas-Ohio State football playoff semifinal, the Longhorns' star quarterback told ESPN's Pete Thamel that he has no intention of playing college football next season. He spoke plainly.
“no i don't,” Ewers said When asked if he thought he would be on the NCAA gridiron next season, he answered “yes” and said he believed he would play in the NFL next season.
ESPN later reported A source close to Ewers said there is an “overwhelming chance” the signal-caller will declare for the draft.
While far from definitive, this is the closest Ewers has come to an answer on his thoughts heading into 2025 amidst all the speculation about the future of football.
In late December, On3 reported that an unnamed school made a $6 million pitch to entice Ewers to play on its team and leave Texas.
Ewers was asked Wednesday about rumors about his future, but he declined to give a definitive answer.
“So right now, I'm just not worried about all that stuff,” Ewers told reporters Wednesday. According to USA Today. “I mean, people can say all they want, but you know, at this point I'm just focused on Friday.”
He was then asked whether the results of either the CFP semi-finals or a possible final would be taken into account in deciding next season.

“That's a great question,” he said, adding that he's keeping an eye on the game against the Buckeyes afterward.
Ewers, a transfer from Ohio State, made his breakthrough at Texas in 2023, throwing for 3,479 yards (69 percent completion rate) and 22 touchdowns against six interceptions.
However, the 2024 season was full of ups and downs, with several injuries.
Ewers had a lower completion percentage (66.5 percent) and threw for fewer yards (3,189), but his 29 touchdowns led the SEC and put Texas one win away from a national title appearance.
If Ewers does indeed declare for the draft, it should be interesting to see where he lands.
Fellow SEC quarterbacks Jalen Milroe and Jackson Dart have already declared, and top picks Cam Ward and Shedure Sanders are likely to follow in the coming days.
Draft analyst Todd McShay said on The Ringer podcast. said an expert recently told him Ewers says he should consider transferring instead of turning pro.
“I've had a number of solicited and unsolicited conversations with people in the league about Quinn Ewers,” McShay said last month. “Everyone I've talked to around the league, and every evaluator involved in the NFL Draft process, believes Quinn Ewers should move.”
