Texas Teen Missing on Christmas Eve
A 19-year-old girl from Texas, Camila “Kami” Mendoza Olmos, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances, and authorities are expressing growing concern for her safety. Investigators fear she may be in “imminent danger” and have not ruled out the possibility that her situation could lead her beyond U.S. borders.
Olmos was last spotted around 7 a.m. on Christmas Eve at her home in San Antonio, dressed in pajama shorts and a hoodie. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar mentioned that both deputies and volunteers are tirelessly searching for her. He emphasized that they are considering all possibilities, which may include kidnapping or even her leaving on her own.
The sheriff said the young woman had recently gone through a breakup, but it was amicable, and there’s currently no suspicion of “malicious intent.” Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that she is not in custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Video footage captured Olmos rummaging through her car outside her residence before the recording abruptly stopped. Authorities believe she may have left on foot, taking only her car keys and possibly her driver’s license with her.
Her mother, Rosario, became worried when she couldn’t find her daughter, who usually goes for morning walks. When Rosario tried to call her, she discovered Olmos’ phone was on the bed, dead. Sheriff Salazar noted that it was very unusual for her to leave her phone behind, indicating something may be amiss.
The investigation has triggered assistance from federal authorities, including the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, who are keeping tabs on border crossings and international travel.
Olmos’ close friend, Camila Estrella, remembered speaking to her two days before her disappearance about shopping for an event for Estrella’s boyfriend. Estrella described Olmos as a loving person and expressed shock over her disappearance.
Anyone with information regarding Olmos’ whereabouts is urged to reach out to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
