Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) has pledged to buy a section of the border wall that President Joe Biden tried to auction off to prevent President-elect Donald Trump from continuing to build his wall.
“I'm going to bid on all that wall, buy it in Texas, and give it to Donald Trump,” he said on the TV show. Fox News” “Ingraham Angle”
“This is pure evil against the American people.”
Patrick elaborated on Texas' plan: post on X said the state would purchase “panels that make economic sense” and “deliver them to President Trump once he takes office.”
He explained that the Texas Facilities Commission took a closer look at the materials being auctioned and found that “most of it was junk, with most of the panels covered in concrete and rust.”
“There were some panels that might be usable, but it just wasn't worth the cost of shipping them from Arizona to Texas,” he said. “In short, this is a ploy by Biden to gain support from the open-borders radical left and to show that Biden is fighting President Trump to the bitter end.”
inside fox news “If there's a decent panel available somewhere, we're going to buy it and give it to President Trump when he gets there,” Patrick reiterated in an interview Monday.
Patrick called Biden's attempts to block President Trump's border security plan “evil.”
“They have opened this border to up to 14 million people, terrorists, murderers, rapists and child molesters,” he continued. “This is pure evil against the American people.”
Patrick said Texas stands ready to do everything possible to help President Trump curb the illegal immigration crisis.
In response to Patrick's plan to purchase unused border parcels, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham said she could provide land to store materials until President Trump's return.
“If you buy it, we have a place to store it on state land! [Texas General Land Office] Buckingham is standing by to help! ” declared.
In November, Buckingham gave more than 1,400 acres of land to the Trump administration to “enable the construction of a facility to process, detain, and coordinate the largest deportation of violent criminals in the nation's history.”
“My office has identified several of our properties and is preparing to make this happen on the first day of President Trump’s inauguration,” she said.
Trump's incoming border czar, Tom Homan, said his administration would fully accept Texas' offer to use the land to facilitate its mass deportation plans.
President Trump also indicated that he is coordinating with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) and others to recover border wall materials.
“What they're doing is just an act, almost a criminal act,” Trump said. “They know we're going to use it, and they know that if we don't have it, we're going to have to rebuild it. And that cost is Because it's double what it cost a few years ago, which is hundreds of millions of dollars.'' You're talking about a lot of walls. ”
Biden halted border wall construction in January 2021, and in 2023 began secretly auctioning off materials he had already purchased for $1.
“Through the reuse, transfer, and donation process, nearly 60% of those supplies were transferred to U.S. Customs and Border Protection and authorized recipients, including the states of Texas and California,” a defense official told Fox News. ” he said.
“The remaining 40% was sold to GovPlanet under a competitive sales agreement process beginning in June 2024,” the official continued. “The material currently being sold through GovPlanet online auctions no longer belongs to the U.S. Government, and the Department of Defense has no legal authority to recall it or stop further resale of material it no longer owns. ”
