Texas tragedy: Father dies trying to save teenage son who was accidentally shot by son’s brother

A Texas father died after suffering a medical emergency while trying to save his teenage son, who was killed in an accidental shooting involving his own brother, authorities and local media reports said.

Police responded to a shooting at a Texas City residence just before 1:30 a.m. and found Joshua Gonzalez, 17, dead upon arrival, Texas City Police Department said.

An investigation revealed that Joshua Gonzalez's 15-year-old brother “accidentally discharged the gun,” resulting in the 17-year-old's death, police said.

“While attempting to administer life-saving measures, the victim's father, Julian Gonzalez, tragically developed severe symptoms and passed away,” police said in a statement.
