‘The darkness hates the light’: Why Christians must persevere in the public sphere

The majority of Americans identify as Christians, but many of them have been misunderstood to believe in a version of Christianity that is not the Bible, fearing how they will be treated in public squares.

“We've been said again and again. If you're not just a Christian, but a conservative Christian, you bring your worldview to the public square. If you allow us to believe that the Bible will affect your politics, then you are a fascist, you are a dictator, you are trying to bring in a 'handmade tale'. Ally Beth Stucky Talk to the author and apologiser Natasha Crane to “Relatable.”

However, the opposite applies to progressives.

“If you're a progressive person who uses some decontextualized biblical poems to support immigration policies, your abortion policies, your socialist policies, it's not Christian nationalism, it's okay, it's true, it's good Christianity,” continues Stucky.

“Christians might say, 'Well, I don't think it's legal to kill them, as poem sal139 makes it pretty clear that babies in the womb are worthy or made by God.”

“I think Christians are very confused about this because I think there are so many different ideas out there. People start to say that what we believe is harmful and toxic, and we are misogynistic and oppressors,” says Crane. “We have all these insults that are being cast on us because of our ideas about the common good.”

“What the world calls good is evil, what the world calls evil may be good,” she added, saying many Christians discourage them from preaching what they believe is good because others don't like them.

“Jesus says, “If the world hates you, I know that it hated me before it hated you. If you are the world, the world will love you as itself,” says Crane. “So he had warned his disciples before they left for missions. He had given them warmth and unambiguous, saying, 'Hey, this would be great.' ”

“He actually said, 'If you were the world' and explained why they were disliked, saying, 'It means '' of the world''.

“Those who are children of Satan, they want their own way. It is their own will, their own desires. They are slaves of sin. And those who are slaves of sin will always hate those who are righteous slaves who are children of God, because darkness hates the light,” she adds.
