See early candidates for Islander GM vacant seats:
Ken Holland
Almost every source the Post spoke on Tuesday mentioned the Netherlands in some capacity. The 69-year-old, who was a 22-season GM for the Red Wings before running the Oilers from 2019-24, is currently a consultant in the NHL’s hockey operations division. Holland’s name almost certainly appears when John Collins, a managing partner who previously worked in the league, goes to Commissioner Gary Bettman for help.
If there is one hold-up, it means that the Netherlands (the old-fashioned GM, which brought the most notable success before the pay cap facility) is essentially similar to the Lamoriello, which the islanders just abandoned.
Brandon Pridam
51-year-old Pridam has been working for Maple Leafs since 2014 and has been an assistant general manager since 2018. He is said to have the management ability to run the hockey management department and can navigate the salary cap well. His name has been nurtured in the past for an open position for GM, and he is considered the future GM around the league.
