Funding Dispute Over DHS Discussed on Fox News

During a recent episode of Fox News Channel’s “The Will Caine Show,” Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.) claimed that the current debate surrounding DHS funding is distinct from previous criticisms aimed at Democrats. He mentioned that “ICE and CBP killed people in Minneapolis,” suggesting a more urgent context. “We can literally end this today and take everything off the table. No one is being held hostage. There are no long lines, and everyone except ICE is getting paid to do what the Democrats want,” he asserted.

Host Will Caine responded, pointing out that House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) labeled the defunding of DHS a potential violation of the law, framing it as legislative terrorism. Caine argued that the Democrats, as the minority party, are attempting to control Congress without the power to do so. He questioned why funding to prevent money from going to ICE involves holding 260,000 American federal employees hostage, as well as jeopardizing the safety of millions.

Crow defended the Democrats’ position, saying, “It’s Congress’ job to pass spending bills and ensure government agencies adhere to the law. We don’t just rubber-stamp these requests; we need to uphold civil rights.” He emphasized that Congress has a duty to ensure constitutional rights are observed.

Kaine interjected, noting that Jeffries argued this approach decreases safety for Americans. He pointed out that federal employees within TSA, Coast Guard, and DHS are affected by this tactic.

Crow denied this claim, suggesting that the footage referenced was outdated and from about ten years ago, prior to significant changes that have occurred since.

When asked if anything had changed, Crow responded affirmatively, stating, “A lot of things have changed. ICE and CBP killed people in Minneapolis, justifying it by claiming the victims had weapons, including one individual with a legal concealed carry.”

He concluded by asserting that the fastest solution would be to resolve this issue immediately by funding every part of DHS except for ICE, stating, “We have a bill to do that.”
