The secret to Republican victory in 2024 is hiding in plain sight

newYou can now listen to Fox News articles.

Many Republicans would be shocked to learn that the 2024 election will take place long before November 5th.

In fact, focusing on November 5th is detrimental to the Republican cause and to the election of President Donald Trump and Republicans in the House and Senate.

The first election date will be September 16th in Pennsylvania, followed by September 20th in Minnesota and South Dakota. The next voting dates are September 23rd in Mississippi and September 24th in Missouri. Forty-three other states and the District of Columbia also have early voting days. Only Alabama and New Hampshire do not offer early voting.

Connecticut will be one of the last states to allow individuals to vote early

Here’s an example of why this is important. In 2022, Pennsylvania’s Republican Senate campaign was focused on his November election day. The campaign didn’t start advertising until long after early voting began. As a result, 40% of Pennsylvanians had already cast their vote before the first major Republican ad aired.

This pattern was not unique to that race.

Republicans have a history of failing to implement early voting. This has even more negative effects.

First, it means that Republican turnout on Election Day would have to be dramatically higher to make up for the number of Democratic votes already in the ballot box. Second, and perhaps more importantly, it means Republican candidates are failing to focus on low-propensity voters, the people least likely to vote.

Democrats are focusing on early voting primarily because they want to be able to identify everyone who has not yet cast a ballot. That way, you can focus your phone calls, direct mail, texts, and even visits to remind voters to vote. They will continue to do so until people vote and remove their names from the list.

Republicans have a history of failing to implement early voting.

This long-running approach to campaigning has proven over the past decade to be more likely to win close elections than focusing on the official election date specified by the federal government.

Changing Republicans from their focus on Election Day and reluctance to vote early is a huge task. He has to be really focused, determined and passionate to do it in one year.

In reality, despite all the talk about “vote banks,” there was no noticeable effect on the special election in New York’s 3rd District. Republicans lost decisively in early voting and were unable to recover on Election Day. It wasn’t due to a conspiracy. Heavy snow fell on election day, reducing turnout. Democrats already had a head start on the ballot, so it didn’t matter.

It will take a new focus and determination to shift the Republican Party’s stance and create new efforts to encourage people to vote early and win votes throughout the campaign.

Every time we focus on Election Day, we undermine and weaken our chances of winning early voting.

As my friend and former U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg, Randy Evans, suggested in a recent paper, Republicans should start by focusing on “first-day wins.”

Mr. Evans writes: “This means identifying the first day of voting of any kind in each state and Washington, D.C., educating Republican voters that day by explaining how to vote that day, and setting the goal of winning that day.” Republican voters are committed to getting involved and winning from day one. ”

Evans then suggested that Republicans should continue to build momentum by focusing on “wins in the first week of voting.”

In his words: “To generate momentum and win in week one, we need to fully follow up on everyone who pledged to vote on day one but didn’t vote. We also need to work hard to create sustainable momentum through early voters and absentee voters beyond Day 1 and Week 1. ”

He also suggested systematically following up on voters in each state until the official election date. According to Evans’ theory, the cumulative effect of focusing on getting early votes is all pre-election activities, and of course getting votes on Election Day (which should be a simple cleaning day). must.

The Republican National Committee is required to establish a set of 51 Election Day countdown clocks that include the period from early voting to Election Day in each state and the District of Columbia.

President Trump and all Republican candidates should start emphasizing early voting.

Political parties and campaign systems should focus on winning on the first day of early voting. This gives them the organization and momentum to continue to maintain voter turnout.

Conservative radio and television hosts and major activists should be encouraged to stop focusing on Election Day and instead focus on winning early voting in every state. Every time we focus on Election Day, we undermine and weaken our chances of winning early voting.

A genuine victory from day one would greatly improve the chances of a Republican victory in 2024. And that is the correct response to the electoral world that the Democratic Party has constructed.

The time to change is now.
