‘The View’ co-hosts unleash on critics calling on Sotomayor to retire: ‘I did not want to hear this’

“The View” co-hosts on Thursday slammed critics calling for Sonia Sotomayor’s resignation, saying former MSNBC host Mehdi Hassan was “wrong” to suggest she resign as a Supreme Court justice. ”

The co-hosts questioned why Justice Clarence Thomas was still on the court and criticized Mr. Hasan.

“We support this man, Justice Sotomayor. We know what she thinks. We don’t always agree with them, but we know what she thinks, and she is a thoughtful person. She’s a deep person. We don’t know some of the other people, and we’re trying to get her off the show.” “It doesn’t mean anyone else is going to do well. So what he’s saying is… What? There are people who should go because they’re not doing what I think should be done. Clarence Thomas should have stepped aside. He shouldn’t have been sitting there,” co-hosts said. Whoopi Goldberg said.

Co-host Alyssa Farrar Griffin defended Hasan and said she asked Thomas to resign, but Goldberg said, “I didn’t want to hear that.”

Sotomayor talks about feeling ‘desperate’ after Dobbs abortion ruling

“But to me, this was a slap in the face to a 69-year-old woman, because you’re acting like she has a problem. You have a problem with her, so she should leave. I say get rid of these people. They’re not doing their job,” Goldberg continued.

Hostin and Goldberg argued that Democrats do not “stack courts,” but Republicans do so by “picking up two seats.”

Hostin said Hassan misunderstands Sotomayor and thinks Sotomayor is very smart.

“This view, to my friends, I thought was the wrong view. In particular, as you pointed out, Clarence Thomas is 75 years old. Samuel Alito, who wrote the Dobbs decision, is 74 years old. Chief Justice John Roberts said, “Justice Sotomayor is the same age as Justice Sotomayor. He is 69 years old and Kagan is 63 years old. “How can you say you’re managing your diabetes the same way people are?” she said.

“The bottom line is, we need her voice because she’s such a powerful person on that court, and they’ve established loyalty. She’s been on the court for almost 15 years. .Now is not the time to quit,” Hostin continued.

Hasan argued that Mayor Biden should retire so President Biden can appoint another liberal judge to the court, citing Donald Trump’s polling.
