The Year of the Podcast: 5 times Trump’s podcast interviews sidelined liberal legacy media

President-elect Donald Trump's ability to express humanity through candor and sarcasm on his podcast is widely credited with helping bring him back to the White House in 2024.

Since the election, both Republicans and Democrats have analyzed why Trump won against Vice President Kamala Harris. One key element that commentators across the political spectrum can agree on is that podcast interviews appear to have a greater impact on elections than celebrity endorsements or liberal legacy media.

As the Poynter Institute pointed out, some are even calling 2024 a “podcast election” because Trump and Harris appeared multiple times on shows targeted to a specific mass audience. The data seems to support this.

Harris' appearances on the podcast circuit range from appearances on “Club Shay Shay,” hosted by former NFL player Shannon Sharpe, to the popular podcast “Club Shay Shay,” hosted by former Barstool personality Alex Cooper. Trump came out on top. His choice to lean into podcasts, especially shows aimed at men, has had an effect on Gen Z men and Millennials. A Fox News voter poll released earlier this month found that 53% of men between the ages of 18 and 44 support Mr. Trump, compared to 45% for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump's interview with Joe Rogan is widely credited with helping him reach more young male voters, who turned to him in droves.

Kamala Harris' inner circle interview with semaphore The post-election period included some memorable statements about the declining influence of traditional media.

“As for my colleagues in the mainstream news media, there is no value in speaking to the New York Times or the Washington Post during a general election. [readers] They are already with us,” said Deputy Campaign Manager Rob Flaherty.

From coining the term “The Weave” to joking about failed attempts at life, President Trump's 2024 podcasting tour includes some memorable moments, and the medium's influence It was demonstrated that there is an increase in
