Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said on Fox News on Monday that “deep state” figures in Washington, D.C., were “doing everything in their power to destroy former President Donald Trump.”
Gabbard appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” with guest host Jason Chaffetz to discuss the recent push by some Democrats to field an alternative candidate to President Joe Biden following the first presidential debate. “Jason, as you’ll remember, there was no actual Democratic primary,” Gabbard said, “and instead of a primary that gave Democratic voters no choice, we’ve seen infighting among Democrats and leading figures in Democratic circles about whether Joe Biden should remain the nominee or be replaced.”
“Think about why all this infighting is happening,” she continued. “Because, frankly, they don’t really care about what’s best for the country. They don’t really care about Joe Biden. This isn’t about loyalty to Joe Biden. They’re trying to figure out the best way to stay in power. So they’re trying to figure out whether Joe Biden is the winning horse or whether they need to put him out to pasture and find someone else that they believe can win, and who is also a figurehead that they can control as a puppet master.”
“So, you pointed out Jill and Hunter Biden, but I think there’s actually something much more serious going on which is about who is really in control,” Gabbard continued. “Obviously, Joe Biden showed the public in the debate that he’s incapable of being president or commander in chief, that he’s clearly not in control. So we have to ask who is really in control, and that is the deep state, as we know it.”
“Those in unelected positions, politicians, the military-industrial complex, the national security state, their friends in the propaganda media, all those who gain power from knowing they can control this symbol. That’s why they’re doing everything in their power to destroy Trump, because they know he’ll expose them for what they are and dismantle their power,” she said.
After the Biden-Trump debate, Democratic pundits quickly shifted their view that Biden would remain the party’s nominee based on his record. Biden was plagued by gaffes, including freezing mid-speech and lying about U.S. troops dying under his command. By midnight, legacy media outlets had begun posting on social media that sources were claiming Biden had a cold.
