Kelly Davis Ends Criminal Case

Kelly Davis, the former spouse of ex-Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Thomas Davis, reached an agreement with prosecutors on Monday to resolve the criminal charges against her. These charges stemmed from an incident in which she allegedly punched a woman she suspected was having an affair with her ex-husband.

Records from North Carolina courts indicate that Kelly has entered a pretrial diversion program. She completed a cognitive behavioral intervention course, maintained distance from the woman involved, and agreed to pay $1,380 in restitution.

Her attorney, James J. Exum, mentioned that if Kelly fulfills all the program requirements, the charges will be dismissed, effectively concluding the case. “This is a very fair solution for a good woman like her who has no criminal record,” Exum noted.

In August 2025, Kelly was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery after an altercation with Laura Watterson, who was accused of having a relationship with Thomas. Watterson, a chiropractor, stated in a criminal affidavit that Kelly confronted her at the office and struck her multiple times.

“She was accusing me of being with her ex-husband,” Watterson recounted in her affidavit.

Kelly has since claimed that her actions were in self-defense during the incident.

Kelly and Thomas married in March 2008 but separated in March 2024 after she repeatedly accused him of infidelity. Their divorce was finalized in December 2025, only months following the argument between Kelly and Watterson.

Now, the couple shares a son, Thomas Davis Jr., who plays linebacker at Notre Dame. Thomas Davis had a notable 15-year career in the NFL, during which he made three Pro Bowl appearances.
