The Vatican No. 2 Cardinal Pietro Parolin led the faithful finger rosary beads hoping to recover Francis, just as he prayed for 45 minutes on a cold, rainy night on Monday. The Vatican issued a dose of optimism early in the evening, providing brighter health bulletins than recently.

Still, the mood was almost strict in the monumental square, and many of the assembled understandings of around 4,000 people understood that they might be in Rome for Francis' last days.
